Time To Be Thankful
It feels so good to be affirmed - everyone likes it. I recently received one of the best affirmations I’ve ever received - someone drew a picture of me playing guitar. I was taken aback by it - I thought of how much time that person must have spent working on that and that it was more than just a quick “thank you” but rather a thought out, deliberate action of gratitude.
One of the things that I have tried hard to do in my life is to be thankful. I want to have an “attitude of gratitude,” that is, I want to actively affirm others, as the artist did for me with his picture. I know that there are many times that I forget to say “thank you” and so it seems appropriate here and now to say a word of thanks to people I may have missed...
Thanks to all of the people who have bought me Starbucks, thanks to teachers who “round up” on essays, tests, and pop quizzes, thanks to everyone I met at NCYC last week, thanks to everyone who has said something nice about my music, thanks to my dear family, thanks to friends... especially those I haven’t called or written to in a while, thanks to whoever invented quesadillas - they have saved many a lunch at my house, thanks to everyone who makes great music and inspires me to do the same, thanks to people who donate money for public parks, artwork, and music festivals, thanks to whoever invented the game of pinochle, thanks to “The Office” for making me laugh, thanks to everyone who is helping with the new album, thanks for everyone who has given me Cardinals tickets, thanks to everyone who makes great products at Apple, thanks to Shigeru Miyamoto for giving me youthful whimsey, thanks to all of the complete strangers who smile back to me when I pass them on the street, thanks to QuikTrip for having great beverages...
Most of all, thank you to Jesus Christ for the Eucharist - the true meaning of thanksgiving. Now pass it on! Post your affirmations or thank here in the comments, or better yet - tell someone that you appreciate them and are thankful that they’re in your life!
