Dual Credits for the Finish
Once Cecilia and MJ decided to attend the local high school, Charity was the odd person out. She is not quite 18 and very close to finishing high school. She had planned on graduating in Dec 2024, but has a weird combination of classes left to make that happen. I knew if she transferred to public school, she would lose the opportunity to graduate at Christmas. Charity also works day-shift at the local Catholic Charities thrift store, which conflicts with a traditional school schedule.
How do we add accountability while leaving flexibility? Students can start taking classes at the local community college at age 16, before graduating high school. We decided to use dual-credit for as many classes as possible in the final semester. They are offered on-line and also count toward a college degree. Charity is working hard to finish up high school and is looking forward to the future. She is open to all the the possibilities, but joining the military is still top on her list.
